Are you always searching to find a good image for your next blog post? Are you looking for related articles for reference?

We did this a lot. But thankfully, I discovered a small plugin/toolbar that can do all this for us.

It's called Zemanta. You can get the toolbar or WordPress plugin from their Website.

How Zemanta helps?

  1. Images: Zemanta searches for related images on internet and can put them into your post. Copyright is taken care of as it displays images that are under Creative Commons license or free to share. It automatically adds link to source. (Cool!)

  2. Tags: (Cooler!)

  3. Links: Zemanta plugin also suggests links that can be added to related websites. If you provide your Amazon affiliate id, it automatically places affiliate links! (Coolest!)

  4. Related Articles: Zemanta also suggests recent articles about the topic you are writing. Avoids searching! (I need super-superlative form now!)

Flavours:

WordPress Plugin: Integrates with WordPress post editor and suggests things from there.

Zemanta Toolbar: You can get toolbar for Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Zemanta with ScribeFire: ScribeFire has added integration with Zemanta and you can use it right from ScribeFire. Further Reading: ScribeFire Adds Zemanta Integration (Discovered via Zemanta)

As I am writing this post, Zemanta is adding new suggestions. Now, it has 10 link suggestions and 45 image suggestions.

Its fully free as well. So go out, try Zemanta....... and write a good Comment here!

Glad you installed it. You will surely like its suggestions. However, give it some time. Sometimes, its very slow!

Good find! I’ve started to use the Firefox toolbar with Blogger — it’s really the same as WP editing since the Zemanta widget appears along side your post edit window. I also added my Flickr account so that any favorites I put there can become post images [I only favor 'attrition' images].

Just realized the toolbar allows me to insert images in gmail. Before I used to send attachment or image location link.

It is useful when Google Images down’t find the right stuff. Since the pictures are searched based on the content you are writing, they are related well. Additionally, the articles, tags and link suggestion mean your article will pack the latest info!

You should have a few more small images to complement your posts. I’d also recommend getting an account on Flickr.com and do advanced search with ‘creative commons’ checked at the bottom. until you get used to Zemanta (is content sensitive, gets better as you complete the post), you may find more on Flickr.

You have a good template, but I find the text hard to read in the black sidebars. You may want to adjust for sharpness. Also you tag cloud is barely visible. See if your settings allow a light background!
