I have a random blog and I love it!

I enjoy writing about a different subject everyday and my readers do too. I have a nice following, which shows that I don't have to commit to one thing.

It's boring to talk about *sewing* every single day and I wouldn't want to read it everyday either.

When I go to someone's blog, I usually follow a random blog. I want to know about the writer, hear about their day, crafts, randoms….

Random is good, IMO.

I blog about what I enjoy….I blog for fun, not for profit.

Life is too short to make everything about money.

I like your thoughts on random blogging. However one can be a good random blogger but it requires lot more attention and role while blogging to have random readers on the blog. What do you think?

I agree, its really hard (sometimes) to get nailed down to a particular topic. As a blogger I felt many times that I should write something (if not much) about terrorism, but I had to hold this desire back because of time restrictions.

I have several blogs and I must say that having a random blog for me is great. I blog just about anything. I find that I have more subscribers there than I do in the others. Also, I offer 125 x 125 ad space and I have currently 4 advertiser paying.

You have made very good point on how to set up your blog to make money. Those points can be tweaked a bit and can apply for a random blog.

For "whateverebay" I have experienced all of your steps. In fact, I just changed the designed just recently. I have finally obtained some sponsors that I will promote in February and must have a good layout.

I, too, have a random blog, albeit around a general theme, and it is most reflective of me because I do not like being nailed down to one interest or passion and having more than one blog to maintain is just simply not going to happen. That being said, I completely agree that getting sustained readership as well as search traffic is more challenging because the blog isn't specialized. I think if you are wanting to maintain a random blog, you have to accept the fact that it requires more patience to build your readership and you will most likely not achieve heavy monetization. But the thing I love most about the blogosphere is that anything is possible, so who knows? Maybe I'll start a revolution with my random blog, or someone else will with theirs, and then all the theories will fly out the window. Until then, however, I appreciate your insight, and if/when I start another blog or website, I will ensure it has a more specific focus. Potentially.
