4 Free Tools To Quickly Write Down Ideas

Many times, there's a flash and suddenly, we have a great idea in the brain. You think about it and make a mental note, "I will write a post about it".

But after 5 minutes, when we sit down to write it, the idea is gone and so is the mental note!

This has happened many times with me. So, I have started using softwares to quickly note down ideas. If you also want to make sure that you remember your ideas, here are the best 5 tools to quickly note down ideas.

  1. Evernote:  Evernote is a a free service that lets you note down anything from images to full web pages. You can either us the web interface or Evernote software. I prefer Evernote for Windows as it allows me write down ideas anytime and anywhere. The best thing about it is that it lets me access notes everywhere.

  2. Windows Sticky Notes: One of the most handy features added in Windows 7 was sticky notes. Sticky notes allow you to note down ideas on desktop. The great thing is that you are easily reminded when you see it again on your laptop.Windows 7 Sticky Notes
  3. Your Mobile Phone: Nothing is better than your phone for writing down small notes. Almost all the mobiles have a notes feature today and it can really help you remember your ideas. And add the fact that you carry it everywhere all day long, you get the quickest device that is always ready.

  4. Notebook: Now, this is not the most environment-friendly method but hey, nothing can beat the feel of good old notebook. You do not need electricity, you do not need to worry about writing on a cramped keyboard. You can write anything, from one word to a complete post in it. Need anything else? I don't!

Which One To Use?

It all depends upon personal choice.

However, with my laptop in hand, I prefer Evernote. I don't need to carry anything extra and can write any ideas anywhere. I also keep a notebook handy but it not used very often.

  2. I use Evernote all the time, especially on my iPhone. And then, I sync it on my Mac and get everything in order. It's the perfect tool to remember everything. I use it for my blogs, and I also use it for my novel (I'm currently writing my first novel, and I couldn't have done it without the use of Evernote).

  3. This all tools are best way to keep a note of ideas and ideas click anytime and anywhere. I prefer to use Evernote application on my cell phone and when I am at workplace I prefer to use notepad, a old way to note down the ideas.

    • Hello and Thanks for commenting. Cellphone is one of the best ways to keep track of ideas because of the mobility it offers and when you have EverNote on it, it becomes more powerful.

  4. love your post…for me i really like to use handphone…i use Nokia because it friendly to me…i jot down any ideas that come through my minds…even suddenly wake up in midnite…for me handphone is the best…hehe…

  6. I LOVE Evernote. I nab everything with it.

    Pen and paper are good for me, too. But that's more when I really want to get my hands dirty with actual writing.
