When a visitor reads your blog, she surely expects that your posts will be useful. Indeed your blog has a quality for that. Still there are a few things you need to keep in mind to make each post interesting and readable. And then, there are annoying factors that can cause people to not finish reading your article ....
Here are three most annoying factors to avoid when you write and publish a post:
1. Too many links.
Links are great. They can help readers better understand your article. But it's blatantly annoying to have a reference link on each sentence. Imagine when you're in that position. You start reading and notice there's a highlighted text link. You click the link and read the other article in another window. After you've read that, you close the window and go back to read the main post again. Yet, after another sentence, there's again a reference link...
This should be avoided at all costs. Reference links should be added to help readers learn more about the topic, not to confuse and annoy them. A text link should flow with the sentence and not say things like "click here.'' Another method is to add a short quote from the source, so reader can link after finishing your post. Try to keep links to no more than one per paragraph or subheading. For a five- paragraph post, keep your references between 1-5 only. You can always add a list of 'additional readings' at the end of your post.
2. Too many images.
Images add visual interest, enticing visitors to read your post. However, overusing images inside a post can backfire, especially for readers who have a slow connection. Will they wait for a page that finishes loading in 60 seconds? Expect them to close the window straight away and leave your site.
Use at least one image for a post header, and one more in the middle of the article to make a point. Generally, one is enough.
3. Bad punctuation.
For some people, even the smallest grammatical error or misspelling is annoying. But bad punctuation is even worse than that. Improper use of commas, periods, capitals and paragraphs can totally ruin your post.
A paragraph typically consists of a unifying main point, thought, or idea accompanied by supporting details. - Wikipedia
You might not think of a paragraph as punctuation, but paragraphs put logical stop points in your article. A reader of your post _is_ human, not a machine. Ask your friend to read your draft before it's published. Question him on whether your post is properly punctuated and easily readable. Readers should not have to stop and reread a sentence to understand your point. Try previewing the post and reading it out loud to yourself.
Making your post more readable will improve the chances that visitors click on other posts in your blog.
That being said, you might already have three different factors that annoy you. Share them in the comment form!

I admit it … I’m a comma freak. I tend to over use them because I’m unsure as to their placement so I figure it’s better to overkill with them.
One thing I can’t stand is when a blogger doesn’t use paragraphs. If the entire post is one big long paragraph … I will more than likely not even read it as it’s too difficult to keep track of where I am.
Spot on Fransiska. You know what they say, TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING IS GOOD FOR NOTHING.

I absolutely agree with it “Improper use of commas, periods, capitals and paragraphs can totally ruin your post” , it really make a blog looks out of phase.
I wouldn’t even use that many links on blog posts, I’d go 1-3 per post, and preferably at the end of the post so that I don’t have to stop reading to check something out. I don’t mind links in the middle of the post if it’s a list of Wordpress plugins that are useful or that sort, but if you have to see a link to understand the paragraph it’s just not good enough.
And as for punctuation, nothing gets me off a site faster than the space-comma-capital -format. Meaning punctuating like this ,and then continuing on without a space .If I wanted I would start a new sentence here .Oh how annoying !
And this affects non native English speaker like me a lot… really a lot.
I certainly love my ellipsis… whether it fits the situation or not.
Good post. Yes, too many links and images are not good for blog and it’s don’t look good. Thanks for information.
