You have many dreams, goals, and wishes. You work hard to attain them. You sacrifice effort, time, and money. Yet, in the midst of all these, there are times when circumstances appear to be so tough that you can’t help but say to yourself, “where is that friendly neighborhood Spiderman when I need him?”
Why is self-mastery indispensable in your effort to arrive at blogging success?
If the answer is not obvious, I want you to take a deep breath, and imagine all the previous accomplishments that you’ve had in your life. Imagine you were Neo in this video while he is talking to “The Architect.” Try to recall the events that led to your success in the past. Think about all the people (good or bad) who were involved in those situations while you were working your way towards your previous goal. Now stop!
Put all the pictures of those events and people on each of the screens surrounding you. Who is the one generating the image on the TV screens? Isn’t it you? Aren’t you the only one who has the exact picture of those events and people on your mind? Is there anybody else who experienced those things aside from you?
No, there’s nobody else except you. You created all of them. You directed that motion picture. Now, since you are the director and creator of your own reality, isn’t it important that you master yourself for you to create a better one? If you’re asking how, then please read on…
Upgrades Also Apply To Your Brain
Buddha said that the nature and cause of human suffering was ignorance. You blog and you monetize your site, but you consistently fail to get results. Then you ask yourself, “What is it that I’m doing wrong?” The fact that you’re asking yourself this question means that you’re ignorant. Sounds pretty blunt, isn’t it? Don’t get mad. I’m just saying that your failure to get an increase in traffic only means one thing – you don’t know how to increase your traffic. The solution – study it, of course. It’s quite obvious, but not too many people realize that. When they don’t get to the point of knowing the answer to their problems, suffering then materializes in the form of failure, then they quit.
Attain self-mastery by learning how to upgrade your brain. You may have read in one of our other articles how important it is to read and research blog topics. Spend a whole day searching and downloading books about creating traffic then sit down and read. I know it sounds so simple, but let’s see you do it first before you say so.
Observe and Interpret
Be a keen observer. The internet is your virtual world. Your blog is your tiny spot in that world. It is an extension of you. It speaks to others and others speak to you through it. Whatever you see around your blog’s environment entirely creates an effect on its existence. Don’t just say, “It’s just a BLOG!” Dude, hell no! It’s you!
Pay attention to what people say then process their words carefully. Someone might be saying, “I can help you succeed!” Your ability to observe your surroundings and interpret the things that happen to you and your blog is crucial to your evolution in the blogosphere. Hey, do you hear that? Sounds like Darwin, yes?
Find A Mentor
Wisdom is acquired through years of experience. Those who have walked the path before you can serve as valuable sources of insight. Fear not to approach someone you know who is older and have more experience than you. Okay, wait! They don’t need to have a long white beard like the guy I mentioned on the previous paragraph. You may consider someone who is as old as you are but who has been blogging for well over five years. Isn’t that someone good enough to teach you some skills?
Establish Your Set of Principles
Don’t get pushed around like a school kid. In life, there are people and circumstances that will always try to challenge your objectives even if you manifest good intentions. Be as steady as a tree and plant your roots deep. Although it is good to declare your principles, it is equally important that you live by them. It will be hard for anyone to put you off your track once they realize that you are not easily deterred.
Strengths and Weaknesses (The List Never Fails)
Rule #1: Don’t think that you know everything.
Rule #2: Don’t think about yourself any less.
The rules may sound contradicting so I believe the safest thing to do is to stay in between them. Believing that you know all there is to know is not only arrogant but also stupid. On the other hand, believing that you aren’t capable of anything is not only pathetic but also irrational.
We talked before about looking for people’s strengths. Now it’s time to look at your own as well. Write down your strengths and weaknesses each on a separate piece of paper. Take one last look on your weaknesses list, then light that *sheet of paper with a match (*you change the pronunciation to get a different effect). Watch it turn into smoke. Now, on the side of each of those strengths you listed on the other piece of paper, state how you plan to improve them. Writing your goals and strengths is a fine way of reprogramming your unconscious mind enabling it to recognize your intentions. Your intentions must be good because these are your strengths.
Communicate
The way you communicate with others and the way you communicate with yourself should not be neglected in your ambition to achieve self-mastery. I do believe, however, that the latter has more impact on you than your ability to deliver your message to your readers. What are the things that you focus upon? Do you often hear that voice inside your head? What does it often tell you? Let me guess… “I thought this guy was going to be serious after that lame Spiderman anecdote…”
I understand. Don’t be negative, however. If you keep on communicating those kinds of negative thoughts to yourself, chances are, you’d lose your sense of humor. Then you become sterile.
Thy Will Be Done
Humans have free will. Aren’t you tired hearing that cliché? Hey hey… I’m not. Whatever happens to us is the result of our own will. We basically let those things happen that’s why they happen. I suddenly lost you there, didn’t I? Hmm, ok let’s see here. Remember the first item in this article about upgrading your brain? Apply that by reading this article on Wikipedia about William Walker Atkinson. This should direct you to other sources that talk about strengthening your “will.”
I’m sure that some of the items I mentioned above are familiar to you. If that’s the case, then good. The more familiar things are, the easier it is for you to accept them. You just have to tell yourself to get to work.
Cheers,
Ryhen
