PostRank

How many feeds are you subscribed to? 10, 20 or more?

Now answer honestly, do you read all those feeds daily?  Isn't managing all these feeds another hassel in busy life?

Moreover, is finding good blogs easy? How to find good blogs in own niche? How to judge their popularity?

Like these, there are many questions we bloggers encounter everyday. We have got to stay updated with blogs in niche and information is just too much. This leads to us wasting lot of time in managing feeds and finding good blogs.

PostRank is a free service that lets you rank feeds based upon several matrices including number of Comments, Diggs and Del.icio.us saves. Its recommendation engine lets you find new feeds based on popularity. You can also group all your subscription and get it as a combined feed.

What is PostRank

"PostRank is a scoring system developed by AideRSS to rank any kind of online content, such as RSS feed items, blog posts, articles, or news stories. PostRank is based on social engagement, which refers to how interesting or relevant people have found an item or category to be" - PostRank.com

PostRank is unique for every blog and is based on scale of 1 to 10. PostRank 1 means that post is least popular while PostRank of 10 means that the post has been most popular.

Recommendation Engine

Recommendation engine lets you find good blogs in niche. PostRank ranks feeds around the blogosphere for this and you can subscribe in one click.

Subscriptions

Want to read just the good content? PostRank makes it easy by letting you subscribe to a custom feed. You can manage all your subscription into one single feed. You get the option to choose the type of posts you get, All, Good, Great or only Best.

Uses of PostRank for Bloggers:

  1. Popular Posts Widget: PostRank.com offers free popular posts widget for bloggers that lists posts based on PostRank.  You can either get the code or just install WordPress plugin. It is better than all other plugins out there because they take only comments/pageviews into consideration. Only thing left is customization in design.
  2. Finding Your Best Posts:"Find out what works and repeat". This is one advice many top-bloggers give. But you have to find the things that work and lot of factors affect them. PostRank lets you analyze feeds and find out what worked. You can type your feed address in PostRank search bar and it will list your feed items. You can also group the feed items by selecting "All Posts","Good Posts", "Great Posts" or "Best Posts".
  3. Discover Best Blogs and Experts: Honestly, finding good blogs is very difficult these days. With web growing into a big crowd, experts and good blogs are hard to find. PostRank recommendation engine lets you easily find good blogs. Popular feeds are ranked in each category and its very easy to find blogs worth reading.
  4. Subscription Management: Ability of subscribing only to good/great/best posts means that you get the content you want. No need to skip through all the posts, read only what you want without clutter.
  5. Analytics (Beta): Still in beta, Feed Analytics can be a FeedBurner killer. It lets you track feeds in real-time for social engagement. I have applied for beta account and will kep you updated about more features if I get accepted. Meanwhile, you can also apply for beta account here.

You can also follow other's subscriptions on PostRank. This adds social factor and you can discover people wth same interests.

What do you think about PostRank? Did you find it useful? Have you used it before? Do tell us in comments.

I don't even remember the days when I only followed 10 blogs. :)

Thanks for the post – what a fantastic overview of our service(s)! For anyone who's interested in more detail about how PostRank works, that overview is here: http://www.postrank.com/postrank

Everyone's welcome to check out our Discovery service, too. Users can now create accounts and share their reading lists of great content, and we also have global topics containing all the feeds in our system on a particular subject. There are topics on just about anything you can imagine — just type a search term into the search/analyze field — and if you happen on something that doesn't exist yet, you can create it!

Related to that, we've also been having a lot of fun lately with our Twitter Newsroom. We've created Twitter accounts for our most popular topics, so Twitter users can follow any and all topic of interest, and get the latest great stories right in their Twitter client: http://www.postrank.com/twitter.

As always, feel free to ping me with any questions or feedback: melanie@aiderss.com, or @postrank/@aiderss on Twitter. :)

It is God's gift if you want to read lot of good blogs but do not want to skim through "filler" posts! Choose only Best and you will get the best content!
