As you may have noticed, I have been missing from Blogging With Success. (In fact, I am absent from the internet!)
I have decided to take a break from blogging. Why? Read on!
Who am I?
I am Ishan Sharma, 18-year-old guy from a small town called Hamirpur in India. I use the pen name "Mr. I".
How I became a Blogger
Three years ago, in 2007, I got a small handbook with my favorite tech mag Digit, called Fast Track To Blogging. Back then, I did not have an internet connection. However, I still liked the idea of blogging. I read that book almost 10 times!
In 2008, when I finally got a connection, the first thing I did was to start a blog at Blogger.com. I did a lot of experimenting and learned a lot with my first blogs. In September 2008, I found two good online friends, Fransiska from Indonesia and SBA from the U.S. At that time, I did not have any idea they would become so important for me. In November that year, I started Blogging With Success with them. Unfortunately, Fransiska retired some months ago, but then Cheryl Bryan recently joined us as Contributing Editor.
And the rest is what I would describe as a fairy tale. It may sound like a regular story to you, but for me, this has been a life-changing experience.
Why I am taking a break
Well, in one word: studies!
While I am ready to leave my studies and become a full time blogger, I can not! I live in a country where people still think that only doctors and engineers are successful (and also that the internet is only for email, chatting and viewing adult websites!).
The only way for me to become a blogger is to get a degree (that too from a reputable institute) so that I can "prove" (as my parents said) that I am "brilliant"! And to get a degree from a good institute, I need to study hard and get a good score in the AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination).
Now, blogging takes a lot of time, and I don't want to bombard readers with time pass posts, so I decided to take a break.
The AIEEE is on April 25. Results will be declared before June 7. If I do not get a good score, my blogging career will be over, but if I get a good score, I will get a new PC and a good broadband connection. (And if I am lucky, I might get the option of leaving my studies!)
What do you think?
Should I take a break? And the most important question is:
What do you think about me? Do I have what it takes to become a full time blogger?
SBA will be handling BWS till I come back. Till then, Goodbye!
This is not a goodbye forever. I hope I'll see you all again!

Ishan, only you can answer that question and it sounds like you already have. You don’t need us to tell you when you need a break. In one of my own blog articles (The Blog Checklist) I talked about the necessity of taking breaks from blogging, because we do have lives. Unless of course blogging is your life, but then you still need breaks. I mean on a regular job you go home at the end of the day, eat, relax, and sleep don’t you? Same applies to anything else we do, including blogging.
What do you think about me? Do I have what it takes to become a full time blogger?
I don’t know. Do you? Again, Ishan, only you can answer this question.
I am a bit confused when you say “If I do not get a good score, my blogging career will be over, but if I get a good score, I will get a new PC and a good broadband connection. ”
So if you don’t get a good score, you won’t be able to study or do agree (and blog).
Do you want to explain it a bit more?
I think you rock and I think you most definitely have what it takes to blog full time. I wish you the best of luck in your studies!
Hi Mr.I ,I really appreciate you Ishan for Just becoming a full time blogger.
I mean a full time successful blogger would negotiate everything with his reader and you did just that.Ya I know that studies are a burden but its for our future,so carry on studying. But after exams we all need yo back here. And yes i have changed my blog url from techie-solutions.blogspot.com to beepthegeek.net
Man, you have sooo much more than it takes to become a great full time blogger! I learned alot from you the last two years. But I understand, blogging takes alot of time, and sometimes there are other things that need to be done first.
So yeah, go ahead, take the exam, and succeed in it like we know you can!
Good luck my friend!
I just recently found your site and have implemented several of your tips already. I truly think you have what it takes to become a full time blogger. You have an informative and easy casual style of writing. You make technical information easy to follow. You are the only one who can fully understand your situation. You will make the best decision for yourself. You need to take care of yourself. And, if you decide to continue to blog, you will have followers who appreciate the information.
All the best,
DanaMc
Well, I have missed your quality posts and will continue until your return. I would like to ask if you could not get guest posts here? It would be nice to only log in and approve or double check submitted posts and then decide when they get published.
I do wish you well on your studies and hope you hit them hard and get great marks.
Hi George,
I’ve been doing the best I can since Mr I’s absence started some weeks ago (big shoes to fill! — don’t let him hear that…). That includes getting guest posts like the one that was published last week, from Tom Walker. There’s another one scheduled from a new guest author, so keep an eye on your RSS/email feed!
I respect your decision and hope you will be back soon. Study is the most important thing you need to finish rather than blogging as it is your career even you will go on blogging in the future.
I’ve enjoyed your articles so much and have learned from them. I’ve also enjoyed your thoughtful comments as well. But I do sense the decision you have made is the right one. Best wishes to you with your studies and with the exam. I shall miss you until we meet online again.
Yes. You should become a full time blogger. Good luck for aieee
