One of the main reasons we started this blog was to create an interactive community whose goal is blogging success. As a community, it would mean more than a) read post , b) maybe leave a 'thank you ' comment, c) use the tip and d) repeat for next post. In November of last year we started the "Blogger's Cafe" to increase our readership and encourage interaction:
Having more readers will give us the community, direction from your input and motivation to keep generating content aimed at you. So we need your help and possibly a leap of faith that BWS will indeed do what we plan — guide you on the path to your success.
Our readership has quadrupled since then. As you can see from your comments on our posts, we're becoming more of a community where we know each other by name and avatar! Your comments and our replies expand on the post subject in ways that help all readers. So, we'd like to take that a step further by publishing a newsletter. That way we can continue the dialog and have a creative synergy that contributes to everyone's growth, or even amusement --- we need life hacks also. We plan on sprinkling the newsletter with short bursts of information and behind the scenes resources --- before we post about them -- some we may never post about.
Why do I need to signup (yet again)?
To receive the newsletter you need to be on our mailing list. Now isn't that the same as the email or RSS subscription for our blog? No, it's completely separate. And, sorry Creative Junkie, this is different from the Blogger Cafe sign up since that was really an email RSS subscription. The RSS by email sends you an automated message to tell you about the latest published post. It's for those folks who don't like to use RSS readers. We gave it double duty by using it for the Blogger's Cafe list. I use email subscriptions for certain blogs I like, which gives them special attention in my mailbox. I haven't looked at my Google Reader in weeks...
On the other hand when you register your email for our newsletter, you give us permission to contact you on topics other than published posts. We intend to use this vehicle to build a deeper relationship. For most new commentators, Mr. I sends a personal 'thank you' email. WordPress lets us see the email for each comment. But we don't dare send any unsolicited mail. With the newsletter list we can publish things we know you'll be interested in and which will stimulate interaction. Unlike the blog signup, you can unsubscribe from the newsletter and still receive published posts.
What's in it for the readers?
Here's what's in it for you:
- It's free. Enough said.
- It's a bit more private. Let your hair down. You'll have our private email addresses to carry on 'conversations' --- some folks are shy about leaving post comments [no sure we have too many of those -- thank goodness.]
- You can help us better focus our blog --- we may ask for your input on certain topics or issue, so you end up managing us (at least some of us are manageable!) Of course, if we use your input we'll write about it and give you appropriate link luv.
- You have our ear when it comes to questions and help requests. Only registered users will get email replies. We'll also select a few to put in our roundup posts. More notoriety for you.
- You can forward particular newsletter items to your friends by using email forwarding.
- Quick informal tutorials [we don't have to make it a full blown SEO- ready post ... ]
- And let's not forget e-Books!
Next Step?
What else do you need to know, other than our promise to never overwhelm you with emails (we're already too busy writing posts!). So after you sign up use the comments section to suggest topics for upcoming newsletters. We have a challenge in mind for the first one, so be ready.
