Do you know which topic you can write about successfully? Have you ever started a blog only to find after some time that you were not really passionate? I have! It took me six months and five blogs to find the topic I was passionate about.
I wasted a lot of energy and time because I did not know the topic I was really passionate about. How can you avoid wasting time? Here are some useful tips to find the topic that will make you famous and successful.
- Think: Sit for 30 minutes and think what you like the most? Do you know the topic well? If yes, this may be (I am not saying ‘is’) your new topic. Also, have a clear goal in mind for your blog.
- Wait: Do not create a new blog every time you have a new idea. There are many ideas but you can not blog about each of them. Wait for some time, go back to step 1 and ask your self, “Do I really like this topic?”
- Write: After you have found the idea, take a notebook and write the first ten post titles and central ideas that come in your mind. Then analyze if these posts will really be useful or not? If you think you can continue writing on the topic, go ahead and create your blog. Keep it private for about a week and see the quality of posts you wrote. For example, Blogging With Success spent about 20 days as a private blog and in that time, we had 15 drafts ready! If you want to be more fool-proof, then ask some friends to read your posts and give you their honest opinions.
- Do: If you are not able to think of anything new or you have too many options, find something you want to do at ‘any cost.’ Do not look further. This is your topic that fits with your personal motivation and will make you famous. Take my example — I created all those blogs because I wanted to blog at any cost. After wasting a lot of time, I realized that Blogging was the topic I was passionate about. And now, here at Blogging With Success, I am doing just that and also learning a lot of new things.

I need more than 30 mins to get idea for my latest draft lol….
this is a normal process, everyone start to blog anything and everything and in the end they realize that they only passionate with one thing.
IMO you have hit the nail on the head. It’s my experience that bloggers run out of steam unless they choose to write about something they are truly passionate about. As a blogger with some experience myself I observe that I do experience times when I feel my enthusiasm waning and these times always coincide with stressful times at work and at home. There are other times when I have found myself bursting with ideas that were off-topic for my blogs.
For me, blogging isn’t forced to particular topic.
I’ve had hundred of posts on my personal blog and that’s the result of me writing anything I want. Maybe it’s a bit different on my case because I can’t tied to write to one particular topic for a long time.
Now there’s some awesome advice! Especially for me that part: “you cannot start a blog every time you have an idea”… Because that’s exactly what I tend to do. (That or creating a full website for the topic.)
It’s a great tip to keep your blog private for some time before publishing it.
great tips. i especially like item #3 — the idea of taking a notebook and writing the first ten titles and centralizing on those ideas.
i would have to agree with fransiska, i need more than 30 minutes (a couple of hours is sometimes not enough, lol)
nice post! ^_^
@Timethief It happens with every blogger. Even most successful bloggers sometimes get off-focus!
@Fransiska You get idea in 30 minutes for latest draft? I think that’s the secret behind your large number of posts here. You write a lot!
Sebastyne Thanks. Well, I have also created many bogs in the past and found that it is ultimate time-waster for any blogger.
techniqueal t. Notebooks are available offline. So, I use them a lot! (I have developed a habit after my ISP problems. I was offline for around a week.)
5. Writing for some thing special thing for which people would like to visit a blog again and again.
