I hope you are. If you are not, you should give Twitter a try.

Issued in Public Interest: Twitter is very addictive and ultimate time-killer. So, if you do not have time, do not dare to visit Twitter!

Why You Should Be on Twitter?

Some benefits of Tweeting include:

  1. New Connections: Making new friends is very easy on Twitter. You might end up getting some really good friends there.
  2. Promotion: While not entirely a promotional tool, Twitter can bring lots of traffic if you use it properly.
  3. It's Fast: Twitter messages are of maximum 140 words. So, people tend to reply quickly to them. Sometimes, it's better to contact using Twitter than using E-Mails.

How I Benefited From Twitter

I have been on Twitter for about one month now and have benefited a lot.

First of all, I found some great friends in same niche as well as outside the niche. RamKarthik (@RamKarthik) has helped me a lot with some of my posts and shared great blogging tips.

Secondly, Chitika team saw my Tweet about Chitika Review and shared on their network. This sent some good traffic. Apart from that, Twitter has been sending good and regular traffic.

With follower number growing every day, more people read tweets and suggest improvements on tips I share.

Some Useful Tools

Here are some useful (and free)tools if you want to start tweeting:

  1. TweetDeck: Desktop client for Twitter. Lets you organize friends in groups. Can shorten URLs without having to visit any other website.
  2. TweetLater: Free service that lets you schedule your tweets.
  3. Bit.ly: Feature rich URL shorting service that racks number of clicks on link, agents and geographical locations.

I tweet! And yes, it’s seriously addicting.

I just recently updated my Facebook page by activating the selective twitter application … so now, anytime I update Twitter and include “#fb” at the end of my tweet, it will automatically update my Facebook profile with my Twitter status!

I’m @CreativeJunkie on Twitter – here’s my page: http://twitter.com/CreativeJunkie

I had a lot of fun customizing it as well. As if I need yet another thing to tweak.

Yes, Twitter has lot of potential as marketing tool. But lot of work has to be done before that to get reasonable number of followers.
