Nothing like a visit to the proverbial 'attic.'' What can you find in those boxes and trunks stashed away by your parents or grandparents? Of course, attics are fast becoming virtual with digital cameras, online databases and e-selling! Many families are storing small treasures of information and genealogy in these virtual attics. Fewer people make and keep the precious family heirlooms handed down by the older generation ---paintings, antiques, quilts, and other handcrafted items.
So, what does this have to do with blogging? Well, blogs have histories too, namely the Archives that hold every post since you started. Those musings and pearls of wisdom reflect where you've been, how you matured and what treasures you left behind. Even when you stumble on 'dead blogs' you sense the ghostly presence, as the posts relive their stories.
I visited the BloggingWithSuccess attic (archives) and found these images and golden nuggets. Read the excerpts and explore the full post by clicking the title or image. I hope you enjoy and feel encouraged to find your own treasures.

Widget Checklist for New Bloggers
"About Me/Us: This is the first widget you have to add to a blog. This can be a plain ‘layout’ element or a page/post. However, a post/page is always more useful as you have a lot of space to tell your readers all about you and the blog...."
Hey, we no longer have a link to one! It pays to read your history ... we created the post about us while on Blogger, but need to add a WordPress page on the current menu bar!

Need Ideas for Blog Topics?
"Visit social websites for bloggers --- On Blog Catalog Discussion pages you can see many topics, and from them you can get one that suits you and start writing from your ideas and positions on the issue. ... "
Still a great idea! Try our discussion groups: Smart Blogging Co. and Blogging QnA. You'll find some lively interaction.

How To Make Your Blog Search Engine Friendly
"Use ‘alt' tags on your blog's images: Search Engines do index your blog’s photos, although it’s not that fast when compared to your posts. Setting proper tags that describe the image and fit your keywords can be important. ..."
Great advice. If you use WordPress to insert images or even Zemanta, remember to add those tags as you create your masterpiece posts. Lately, we've seen more Analytics statistics with Google Images as the referring source.

What's in your Attic? Tell us what information about your blog lies buried in the Archives!

A truly rich resource for new bloggers. quite an awesome blog. suggestions of resources for new bloggers are quite good
@Vinay – I’m truly thankful that you took the time to leave a comment like this one. Many bloggers feel they need to say something that directly contributes to the post at hand or nothing at all. But sometimes this type of affirmation inspires the writers’ toil (LOL). We all hope enough people feel something like this, but you’re never sure until someone blurts it out — thank goodness!
