No? Well, then nobody will like a dull (static) blog! So, let's make your blog a little bit intelligent!

By dynamic, I do not mean flashing scrolling text or anything like that! In fact, you should avoid that kind of "dynamic" blog!

In this post, I am covering 5 plugins that will help you control content and display it only when needed.

Here we go:

  1. Widget Logic: This plugin lets you control the widgets using WordPress's conditional tags. If you know basic PHP (or won't mind reading about them for 5 minutes at Codex), this plugin is for you.

bwsblackquoteFor example, you might want to display a snippet of text above the series of posts, but only on the main page of your blog." Download

  2. Widget Block: This plugin lets you create customized widgets that are displayed(or not displayed) only on pages of your choice.

bwsblackquoteCreate widgets that only display on specified pages." Download

  3. Referrer Detector: Lets you display a customized message to new visitors based on referring website.

bwsblackquotee.g. you may want to ask Del.icio.us users to bookmark your post." Download

  4. Ozh' Who Sees Ads: This is an advanced ad management plugin that gives you complete control of ads. You can specify who will see ads (new visitors, search engine visitors etc.). All this is down through easy to use backend. You will need to insert either a PHP snippet in template or HTML comment in individual posts to display ads.

bwsblackquoteFor instance, you could consider the following criteria: Is the visitor a regular reader? Does this visitor come from a search engine? Is the visitor currently reading an old post, or something fresh?" Download

  5. Search Ads: Let's you easily display ads only to search engine traffic. You can even specify the search engines for which to display ads. This is much lighter and simpler than Who Sees Ads.

bwsblackquoteFirst of all you will be able to add another revenue stream to your site, as organic traffic tends to yield a very high CTR. Secondly, you won’t annoy your regular visitors" Download

Some nice plugins you have listed, it makes it easier for the user to make sure only certain widgets appear on certain pages/posts.

Hey Mr. I, Great post, I like the style of it as well. Although I would think about a different placement or size for the adblock. The size and shape clashes with the content.

Yeah, these are nice list of awesome plugins. I have installed a plugin called “wibiya toolbar” on my blog. It’s a cool plugin too, an advanced navigation tool.

Any size! You are not limited by size. All you need is the code for ad.

Nice list. I wonder how the referral plugin works with caching. I mean, if I have my page cached, the text will not change, but if I leave it uncached I risk to go down (If I am featured somewhere).

I only use a few plugins in hope that my site will be faster to load. Too many plugins can drag a site, making it slow. If I don’t think I really need a plugin, I won’t install it.
